About the Task Force

Welcome to the official wiki of the IEEE Task Force on Player Satisfaction Modeling (PSM).

The primary focus of this task force is on the use of Computational Intelligence (CI) for modeling and optimizing the player's perceived satisfaction during gameplay. Other approaches beyond CI are also investigated. The requirement of computational models (cognitive or affective) of Player Satisfaction stems from the need for enhanced player experience. Given the complication of satisfaction as a mental state and human individualism, the construction of player satisfaction models proves to be a very challenging and interesting problem for computational intelligence and game AI.

IEEE-PSM task force covers all dissimilar approaches regarding quantitative player satisfaction modeling and CI/AI for augmenting playing experience. On that basis, we attempt to encourage a dialog among researchers in the AI, human-computer interaction, cognitive modeling, affective computing and psychology disciplines who investigate dissimilar methodologies for improving user (player) experiences. Research areas relevant to PSM include, but are not limited to, the following:

Player Satisfaction Modeling

  • Empirical Models
  • Psychological Models
  • Cognitive Models
  • Affective Models

Optimizing Player Satisfaction

  • Expert knowledge techniques
  • Computational Intelligence techniques
  • Adaptive learning
